Finally, Custom Fonts is a classic feature that allows you to use any font that you like. For example, you like a font that you saw on Google. You can just download them and upload via this feature to enable it on your website.

The theme is fully compatible with Elementor and Gutenberg for page building, WooCommerce for eCommerce, and key plugins like Yoast SEO, LearnDash, WPForms, and more. You can easily extend your site’s functionality without worrying about conflicts.

  • How to Create a Dental Website (5 Easy Ways)

Do you want to create a stunning dental website with WordPress?

Building a dental clinic website from scratch can seem tricky and expensive. But with WordPress, you can easily do it yourself!

So, how do you create a website for your dental practice?

With the right WordPress theme and a ready-made dental template, you can launch your site in just a few clicks.

In this guide, we’ll show you step-by-step how to create a professional dental website using WordPress.

    Let’s get started!

Essential Requirements To Create a Dental Website

Building your website in WordPress is easy. However, there are certain essentials you need to know.

Let’s look at them one by one.

    1. Grab Your Domain Name and Hosting Service

Once you have a domain name and web hosting set up, you are ready to create a dental website.

A domain name is the web address of your website. One quick way to create a domain name is to use the name of the organization and add .com to the end. (For example, www.dentistarystudio.com )

You can find a domain by searching on a website such as Instant Domain Search to see if your desired domain name is available.

    Instant Domain Search

Deciding on the right domain registrar and domain name is critical for your dentist website.

After you’ve figured out the domain name, the next step is to purchase web hosting.

Good hosting is important as it will affect the speed, performance, and security of your site.

There are many hosting providers such as Bluehost, Kinsta, Hostinger, and Siteground. Choose a hosting provider with the features you need for your organization and a hosting plan that works for you.

We believe you should use Bluehost for your dentist website because they provide the best service to build and maintain a website.

    2: Selecting a WordPress theme

A WordPress theme establishes what your website looks like, so it’s important to choose the right one that is fast, SEO friendly, and responsive.

We recommend using the Cyberchimps Responsive theme. It has rich features and offers 24/7 assistance.

    Responsive theme

    3: Selecting WordPress Plugin

Your website requires several key elements and features that can be achieved by utilizing third-party plugins.

Not all themes readily integrate with other plugins, which can cause conflicts during website development.

No worries though, Responsive theme is tested to be compatible with other plugins, especially popular plugins like WooCommerce, WPForms, and page builders like Elementor.

Using compatible plugins allows you to enhance your website’s functionality and streamline the design process. Many plugins also offer pre-designed starter templates that can help you launch your site quickly and efficiently, with just a single click.

That’s right, you can import the whole website in one click. It saves you lots of time and effort.

Benefits of Building a Dental Website

Having a website for your dental practice provides many benefits. These added benefits can help you create a better experience for your patients and allow your practice to operate smoothly.

Benefits of Building a Dental Website

Below are the major benefits of having a dental website:

    • 24/7 Support: Your potential patients will have access to vital information (office location, hours of service, services provided, phone number, etc.) outside of your clinic hours.
    • Establishes credibility and trust: A website with bios of dentists practicing in the clinic, patient testimonials, and pictures of before-and-after treatment you have done can enhance your credibility and display your capabilities.
    • Increases patient appointments: A contact form or a phone number (click-to-call) feature will entice your visitors to contact you and help direct your web traffic to a real appointment.
    • Educates and engages patients: You can use your website to post blogs, FAQs, and videos on dental procedures, oral care tips, and patient inquiries, establishing your practice as a helpful, authoritative resource.
    • Showcase services offered: A list of all services, for example, teeth whitening, braces, implants, and emergency dentistry, should include descriptions, prices, and benefits so patients understand what you offer.
    • Improves patient communication: Patients can always email or message you using integrated chat and/or contact forms or just the FAQ sections of your website to answer inquiries, and keeping that communication flowing can improve the total clinic experience for your patients.
    • Promote special offers: You can promote seasonal discounts, new patient specials, or referral programs to get customers talking about your service.
    • Competitive advantage: A well-thought-out and informative website can give you the edge you need over clinics simply relying on word-of-mouth and outdated directories.

These are a few of the benefits that will encourage you to create a dental website.

  • What Are Core Web Vitals (CWV) & How to Improve?

    What are Core Web Vitals?

When building or scaling an online business, handling your website’s performance is one of the most crucial parts of the process.

Core Web Vitals are a set of performance metrics introduced by Google to measure user experience on a website, with a particular focus on loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability. These metrics are part of Google’s page experience signals and directly impact search rankings.

By handling these metrics and bringing them to the required level, you’ll drastically improve your website.

Our team conducted thorough research on over 20 websites. Based on this, we devised the best solutions to solve your website’s performance issues.

So let’s get started, and learn the core web vitals.

    What are Core Web Vitals?

    Core Web Vitals

To clear the basic understanding, let’s first break down a few terminologies you will often come across throughout this guide.

Core Web Vitals: At the beginning of 2020, Google’s Chrome Team introduced a suite of quality signals or metrics that give you a clear idea of a website’s overall performance, called Core Web Vitals.

For instance, the human body requires daily check-ups or complete body testing if it is affected by the flu. In response, you run health tests to identify what’s wrong and what needs to be corrected.

Exactly, in the same vein, your website needs regular check-ups and testing to monitor its performance. One of the standard tests that Google recommends is the Google PageSpeed Insights (PSI) test, which provides detailed metrics and statistics, offering a comprehensive view of your website’s overall health and performance.

Overall, these metrics are collectively referred to as Core Web Vitals. The three critical metrics that fall under the core web vitals are Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). Other notable metrics include First Contentful Paint (FCP) and Time to First Byte (TTFB).

How to Measure Core Web Vitals?

    Core web vitals users issues

Now that you understand the terminology and key metrics related to core web vitals (CWV), let’s explore how to measure them.

As previously mentioned in the guide, core web vitals are metrics and stats you get upon running a Page Speed Insights (PSI) test. To check the CWV of a webpage, simply copy the page’s link.

    Next, visit https://pagespeed.web.dev/.

Paste the copied link in the panel box and click analyze.

    Pagespeed insights

That’s it, in some time, you will get a detailed report of the web page’s core web vitals.

Alongside, you can also find a detailed report of your website’s core web vitals on the Google search console.

Key Metrics of Core Web Vitals?

When you run a PSI test, the report highlights  key metrics, which are further classified into five broad metrics:

Key metrics of core web vitals

Here is a chart indicating a clear idea of what a good score is for each of these metrics:

Accessing quality of expuality of exp

These Page Speed Insights (PSI) metrics display a distribution of this data, allowing developers to understand the variety of experiences for that page or origin. This distribution is categorized into three levels: good, needs improvement, and poor, denoted by green, amber, and red bars, respectively.

For example, 11% within LCP’s amber bar means that 11% of all recorded LCP values are between 2500ms and 4000ms.

    Category of distribution under psi

Let’s now deep dive into each of these metrics. Alongside, while researching for the article, my team got in touch with various developers to understand how they work to optimize each of these metrics efficiently,

    1. Largest Contentful Paint (LCP)

LCP measures how long it takes for the largest visible element on your page to load fully within the user’s viewport. This may include any media file, such as a hero image, a heading, a website banner, or a video.

This metric directly relates to how quickly users perceive your page as helpful. A page with high LCP takes a lot of time, hampering the user experience.

The following table, by Chrome developers, will give you a clear idea of the ideal LCP threshold for different devices.

    For Mobiles:

    lcp mobile threshold

    For Desktops

    lcp desktop threshold

    How To Improve LCP

Three major elements mainly contribute to the issues in the LCP:

    • TTFB, caused mainly by the selection of hosting, CDN, and page caching
    • Time taken and delay in the resource or media loading
    • Delay caused by the rendering of the element

TTFB in itself is one of the crucial metrics impacting the overall CWV, which we have discussed separately in the article.

However, to address other LCP-related issues, focus on the loading time of critical resources, consider preloading essential images, and exclude above-the-fold media from lazy loading.

    Enabling lazy loading

Additionally, you should optimize all images across your website in the WebP format, with relevant sizing for each device.

To reduce bloat on your website’s backend, minify and defer JavaScript and CSS files if you’re using a WordPress theme like Responsive Theme or Blocksy, and plugins that remove render-blocking resources can be the most effective options.

Furthermore, consider improving font loading by preloading key fonts and hosting them locally to enhance your site’s Largest Contentful Paint (LCP).

While you do not have to implement all of these remedies, consider those based on the issues raised in the PSI report.

    2. Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS)

CLS tracks unexpected layout shifts that occur when a page loads.

To understand it more clearly, let’s consider the example of a user trying to click a button on the checkout page, but shifting away at the last second results in a click on the wrong button.

    Irritating ain’t?

That’s exactly what the cumulative layout shift means: it quantifies how visually stable your page is while loading.

The above video demonstrates how a user can suffer because of CLS; herein, he wished to click “No, go back,” whereas due to the shift, the input went as “Yes, place my order.”

The layout instability of a page not only frustrates users but also creates a poor experience that search engines penalize. In contrast, a stable layout keeps your visitors engaged and encourages them to stay on your site longer.

    How To Improve CLS

Unoptimized fonts, media, ads, and improper CSS handling are the primary causes of the issues highlighted under CLS issues.

The best way to reduce the cumulative layout shift (CLS) is to allocate a fixed-sized space for ads, pop-ups, and banners that change over time. Using tools such as Google’s Layout Shift Debugger can help you accurately spot moving items.

To address this, explicitly define the width and height of pictures, videos, iframes, and embeds. It is also advised to host fonts locally, preload them, and use them to prevent layout shifts brought on by FOIT or third-party font downloads.

Moreover, various LCP issues also overlap and occur in the CLS, for which you can consider implementing lazy loading or deferring JavaScript.

    3. Interaction to Next Paint (INP)

INP is a recently introduced metric in PSI metrics. Earlier, the metric was measured in terms of FID (First Input Delay); however, after March 2024, it was replaced in Core Web Vitals with an enhanced metric of INP.

    Interaction to Next Paint (INP)

It measures a page’s responsiveness by tracking the delay between user interactions, i.e., the time between a click or keyboard input and the subsequent visible change on screen.

After providing the required input, it determines how long a user will have to wait to get the desired output. A high INP can be frustrating for users, especially on mobile devices.

    How To Improve INP

First Input Delay (FID) is primarily contributed to by JavaScript-related delays caused by the website’s architecture, themes, page builders, or third-party code.

Optimizing the INP is considerably easier than other issues. You can easily do this by reducing the JavaScript delay, which follows a step-by-step procedure.

First, check for heavy Chrome DevTools scripts and delay or defer any unnecessary tasks. Next, remove any unnecessary JavaScript and CSS. If you are using a CMS, it is recommended that you avoid those that offer bloated themes or increase page size with additional page-building elements.

    Other Notable CWV Metrics

There are two metrics that add additional value to your website performance.

    1. First Contentful Paint (FCP)

FCP measures the load time of the first bit of content, such as text or images, that appears on the screen after a user navigates to your page.

It’s the first visual cue that your website is loading. When users see that something is happening on screen, they’re more likely to wait, reducing bounce rates and increasing engagement time. A delay here gives the impression of a blank or stalled site, especially for new visitors.

The following table, compiled by Chrome developers, provides a clear idea of the ideal FCP threshold for various devices.

    For Mobiles:

    For Desktops

    FCP desktop threshold

    How To Improve FCP

As is clear from the definition itself, the primary aim of FCP, or First Contentful Paint, is to speed up the loading of the first visible content.

While working on LCP, CLS, and INP already help reduce most of the FCP issues, a few other general methods that additionally help include:

    • Choosing a fast DNS provider and enabling full-page caching to deliver content quickly.
    • Generating and inlining critical CSS to avoid Flash of Unstyled Content.
    • Using multiple caching layers and setting a longer cache expiration time.

    2. Time to First Byte (TTFB)

    Time to First Byte (TTFB)

TTFB measures how long the user’s browser takes to receive the first byte of data from your server. It reflects the server speed and how efficiently your backend handles requests.

Slow TTFB is often a result of a poorly located or distant hosting server, heavy backend processing, or unoptimized databases.

    How To Improve TTFB

The TTFB, or Time To First Byte, is primarily affected by the choice of your web hosting and CDN provider. Additionally, occasional issues with these may significantly impact the TTFB of a webpage.

If you are just starting with a new website or after a lot of efforts, issues related to this persist, the best solution is to change your hosting provider.

If you have little or no idea of how to choose hosting, consider reading our guide on beginners guide to web hosting.

However, if you think, based on the PSI report, the TTFB issues are still manageable, you can consider opting for solutions like:

    • Using the load balancing features in existing CDNs improves latency and uptime and distributes traffic effectively.
    • Enabling TLS 1.3 and HTTP/3 improves hosting security and reduces latency.
    • Increasing cache TTL and using efficient cache tools.
    • Optimizing databases and reducing server load through upgraded hosting plans

    Why Optimize Core Web Vitals?

Following the techniques mentioned earlier can help you easily scale your website.

While working on the site’s CWV score primarily aims to enhance its performance, it is also of significant importance for other reasons.

    Importance of core web vitals

    FAQ

    What are Core Web Vitals?

At the beginning of 2020, Google’s Chrome Team introduced a suite of quality signals or metrics that give you a clear idea of a website’s overall performance, called Core Web Vitals. The three critical metrics that fall under the core web vitals are Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS).

How to Run Core Web Vitals?

To check the CWV of a webpage, simply copy the page’s link. Next, visit https://pagespeed.web.dev/. Paste the copied link in the panel box and click analyze.

    What is LCP?

LCP measures how long it takes for the largest visible element on your page to load fully within the user’s viewport. This may include any media file, such as a hero image, a heading, a website banner, or a video.

    What is CLS?

CLS tracks unexpected layout shifts that occur when a page loads.

    What is INP?

INP measures a page’s responsiveness by tracking the delay between user interactions, i.e, the time between a click or a keyboard input and the following visible change on screen.

How to Improve Core Web Vitals?

To improve the core web vitals of a page, you can use either generic or issue-specific solutions. While a few issues have standard solutions, others require technical optimizations.

    Conclusion

Optimizing a website with metrics highlighted under Core Web Vitals is by far the best way to scale your website’s performance.

While some of the issues highlighted are complex and challenging, this article outlines tried and tested methods to address them. Moreover, aligning your website with best practices for optimal performance will give your business a competitive edge.

  • How to Add Custom Fonts in WordPress – 3 Best Methods for 2025

Is your WordPress website still displaying the same default, mundane fonts? If yes, it’s time to change or add new custom fonts.

With the consistent changes in customer expectations, user experience is no longer limited to website aesthetics or performance; every visual element contributes equally. Likewise, website fonts are crucial in conveying your brand’s persona.

For instance, serif fonts convey tradition and reliability, whereas script fonts add a touch of elegance. Similarly, every font style brings a different perspective to your brand.

While you are checking out this article, the apparent purpose is to learn how to change your site’s fonts, and we have got you covered.

    So let’s get started!

    What are Custom Fonts?

    what are custom fonts

While you are presumably aware of this, if not, consider them to be specially produced typefaces, alphabets, and numbers that are not typically found in standard font libraries and systems.

They are pre-existing or custom-designed typography you can obtain for free or buy from font websites and other external sources.

However, if you intend to utilize such custom fonts on your website, there are some critical considerations that you must remember:

    • Firstly, custom fonts can be customized to showcase your brand’s identity or match the aesthetic of a specific project; however, unlike standard fonts, they require specific licensing agreements, especially in commercial projects.
    • Additionally, custom fonts must be embedded in websites to ensure they display smoothly across different devices and browsers.

    Where to Download Custom Fonts?

While you must be eager to learn how to add custom fonts to your website, downloading the font you want is a prerequisite.

So, to break it down, you can simply understand its process, like you needed a specific font for your site. Next, you will look for the font and get it from an external source, and once you have it, you can add it to your site in different ways.

If you’re wondering where you can find custom fonts, here are some reliable sources you may consider:

    1. Google Fonts

    Google fonts

Google Fonts is a popular resource for downloading and utilizing free custom fonts. Maintained by Google, it offers hundreds of high-quality typefaces with open-source licenses suitable for web use.

    2. Adobe Fonts

If you are looking for some premium options, you may consider Adobe fonts library that comes bundled with Adobe Creative Cloud. It provides access to a vast collection of professional fonts, automatically licensed for personal and commercial use.

    3. DaFont

    Dafont

DaFont is another well-known platform for both free and demo fonts. While some fonts it offers are free for personal use, make sure you check licensing details if you plan on using them commercially.

    4. Font Squirrel

    Font Squirrel

Known for offering 100% free fonts for commercial use, Font Squirrel provides handy tools like a webfont generator for converting fonts into web-friendly formats.

    5. Creative Market

If you’re looking for exclusive or highly stylized fonts, Creative Market may serve your requirements. Alongside premium graphics of all types, they offer premium fonts from independent designers and agencies.

How to Add Custom Fonts To WordPress Website

Now that you know where to find custom fonts, let’s learn some easy methods to add them to your WordPress website.

In this guide, we will discuss three methods I found most convenient while trying to add a custom font to my website.

I downloaded the “Ancizar Serif” font from Google Fonts for this tutorial. You can select any font from their library or directly search for anything specific you need.

    Ancizar Serif

Basically, before adding custom fonts, the front end of my website looked like:

    Default WordPress fonts

    Method 1: Using Theme

Among all the methods I explored, using the theme is the most convenient and easiest method to add custom fonts to my website.

    Classic WordPress themes

While saying so, it’s not apparent that every theme you use would offer similar ease. You don’t even get the option to add custom fonts when using the default WordPress theme.

On the other hand, if you are using classic themes, it becomes easier. However, adding custom fonts is among the advanced features classic themes offer. Popular themes like Kadence and Astra, though, provide this feature, but require you to use the paid versions of their add-ons to use this feature.

However, while exploring other themes, I also came across the Cyberchimps Responsive Theme, which, by far, I found the best theme to add custom fonts to my WordPress site.

    Responsive Theme

It allows you to add custom fonts to your site for free, and the process of using the feature is seamless. Additionally, it offers 250+ ready-to-import starter templates and other advanced features like mega menu, white labeling, and WooCommerce integration for free

(I used the Responsive theme to show how to add custom fonts in this article, and I recommend trying it.)

The process of using the Responsive theme to add custom fonts follows a simple four-step process:

Step 1: Downloading the Responsive Theme

To learn how to install and activate the Responsive theme, you can refer to:

    Step 2: Activating Responsive Plus

The custom fonts addition feature in the Responsive theme comes only with the activation of Responsive Plus.

Hence, once you have installed the theme, navigate to Responsive from the dashboard.

    Naviagting to responsive

Scroll down, where you will find the additional features of Responsive Plus. Click the Install button to activate Responsive Plus.

    Activating Responsive plus

    Step 3: Uploading Custom Font

Once you activate Responsive Plus, click on Settings under the Custom Fonts feature.

    Clicking settings under custom fonts

Next, add the Name of the custom font you are adding and Upload Font, and click on the Add New Font button.

(Here I have already added the font name and uploaded the font file I previously downloaded from Google Fonts)

    Adding font

    Step 4: Applying Custom Font

Once you have uploaded the font, you need to apply the font to ensure it displays correctly on the front end.

To apply the font on your website, open your WordPress admin dashboard and click on Responsive.

    Naviagting to responsive

    Next, click on Customize Fonts/Typography.

    Clicking customize typography

From here, you will be able to apply the uploaded custom font to the base font and the heading font, or both.

(Here I will show how I applied the uploaded font in the body font.)

Click on the Icon beside Body Font under Base Font.

    Clicking body font

Next, click on the dropdown beside the default font Family.

    Selecting font family

Now, select the available options, and click on the uploaded Custom Font

    Choosing uploaded custom font

Once done, the custom font will be applied to your website’s front end.

    Method 2: Using a Plugin

Another easy process to add custom fonts to your website is by using a plugin. Various plugins offer a seamless process to add custom fonts to your website.

For this tutorial, I am using the Use Any Font plugin.

To download the plugin, you can simply navigate from your WordPress dashboard to Plugins > Add Plugin, search for “Use Any Font” and install the plugin.

    Downloading plugin

Once the plugin is active, go to Use Any Font from your WordPress admin dashboard.

(To us, the plugin would need an API key, either free or paid.)

    Clicking on use any font

To access a free key, click on the Generate Free Lite / Test API Key button.

    Generating key

    Next, click the Verify button.

    Verifying key

Once you have the API key, you can upload a custom font. To upload a font, click the Upload Font Tab.

(This will allow for options to upload a font you previously have or add a predefined font.)

    Clicking upload font

Next, click on the Upload Fonts button to add the font you have previously downloaded and add the Font name and Choose Font File

    Once done, click Upload.

(Here I have already added the file’s name and uploaded it.)

    Uploading font

After uploading the font to apply it on the frontend, go to the Assign Font tab and click on the Assign Font button.

    Clicking assign font tab

Next, select the uploaded fontselect the elements you want to assign, and click the Assign Font button..

(Here I have already selected the font I uploaded and assigned H1, site title, and block quotes. You can assign them as per your needs.)

    Assigning font to elements

Once done, you can see the changes in the front end.

    Frontend display after update

    Method 3: Adding Manually

You can also add custom fonts to your website manually. However, I will recommend this method only if you have sound knowledge of WordPress code and technical architecture.

To manually add custom fonts to your website, connect via FTP or use your hosting File Manager.

    (Here I have used FTP)

    Connecting site to FTP

Navigate to your active theme directory: wp-content/themes/your-theme-name/

    Navigating to theme directory

Create a new folder inside the theme directory called fonts (if it doesn’t already exist) and upload the font files into the fonts folder.

    Adding font file in folder

Next, declare the font in your CSS so it can be used in your theme.

Open your theme’s style.css or a custom CSS file (or use a child theme to prevent losing changes during updates).

Add the @font-face rule like this:

    @font-face {

    font-family: 'YourCustomFont';

    src: url('fonts/your-font.woff2') format('woff2'),

    url('fonts/your-font.woff') format('woff');

    font-weight: normal;

    font-style: normal;

    font-display: swap;

    }

Adjust the src path if you’re not in the root of the theme folder.

Once the font is declared, apply it to elements:

(For example, I have shown how to use the custom fonts for the HTML elements or your CSS classes)

    body {

    font-family: 'YourCustomFont', sans-serif;

    }

Or apply it to specific elements:

    .custom-class {

    font-family: 'YourCustomFont', serif;

    }

Before comparing OceanWP and Cyberchimps Responsive themes, it’s essential to have some knowledge of both themes and how the internet categorizes them.

Let’s get started with OceanWP first.

    OceanWP

    Ocean wp

OceanWP is one of the most popular classic WordPress theme. It used to be the top WordPress theme for many years.

From a technical point of view, OceanWP is a lightweight theme and is great for beginners looking to start a WordPress website.

The theme is available for free on the WordPress theme repository and has plenty of 5-star reviews.

That’s a good intro to the OceanWP theme; we’ll see the feature in more detail.

    Cyberchimps Responsive Theme

    Responsive theme

Cyberchimps Responsive theme’s journey is no less than an inspiration.

In the early 2010s, a developer named Ethan Marcotte developed the revolutionary concept.

It was responsive web design – a new way of making websites mobile-friendly. It was a new way of thinking and inspired by this shift, Trent Lapinski built the Responsive theme. It wasn’t just any other WordPress theme but rather a response to the changing digital world.

As one of the first truly responsive WordPress themes, it quickly jumped to over 500,000 downloads in under a year.

From this humble beginning, Cyberchimps – the team behind the Responsive theme began to expand into offering WordPress products. What began as a single theme grew into a complete platform consisting of themes, plugins, and other tools, all designed with one goal – to help users create powerful websites with ease.

Today, Cyberchimps Responsive theme and other products like Responsive Starter Templates, Responsive Addons for Elementor, etc continue to empower business owners to launch their websites that combine design, speed, and performance.

    Comparing OceanWP Vs. Cyberchimps Responsive

When picking a fast WordPress theme, both OceanWP and Cyberchimps Responsive stand as strong contenders.

Both themes have more than 500+ 5-star ratings on WordPress.org, which shows that customers love using these themes regarding features, speed, and performance.

At first glance, all the themes seem similar. Here’s what all the themes provide:

    • Easy to use Customizer – All are classic themes and provide a fast theme customizer to design websites without touching a single line of code.
    • Fast Speed – All the themes are optimized for speed and ensure your site runs smoothly.
    • Global customization options – From color typography to layouts, you have complete control over your website from a single customizer panel.
    • Ready to use Starter Templates – All the themes provide readymade WordPress website templates to help you head start your website building process.
    • Integration with plugins – All three themes work with Elementor, Gutenberg, WordPress, and other essential plugins.

Beyond appearances, each theme brings unique strengths that influence how you build your website – and how it looks and performs.

Let’s start exploring all the themes in detail.

We’ll compare all themes for their customization settings, performance, and possibilities for building high-performance business websites.

    Theme Customizer

Since both are classic themes, it’s easy for us to compare the theme customizer and see what we can accomplish with it.

    Let’s explore both themes.

    OceanWP

    Ocean WP dashboard

OceanWP sticks to the older format of the theme customizer. However, you can still use the settings to customize your website elements.

Here are some basic features that you will find in the OceanWP theme customizer:

    • Global Settings: With OceanWP, you can set your site’s typography and color globally.
    • Header/Footer: You can customize your website’s header and footer. However, there is no modern header/footer approach like Cyberchimps Responsive theme or Astra.
    • Layout options: OceanWP proivdes you ready to use lauout options by creating a combination of sidebar on left, right, both sides and removal of sidebars. You can defintely set pages to full width, however it does not offer the flexibility like Cyberchimps Responsive theme.

Here are some elements that you can define and adjust with the OceanWP theme customizer:

    • Control typography
    • Colors
    • Page layouts
    • Blog Layouts
    • Sidebar
    • Customize Header and Footer
    • Manage SEO settings
    • Performance settings

    Cyberchimps Responsive

    Responsive theme settings

When you install any theme, the welcome panel is divided into two parts – a shortcut section to the theme customizer’s settings and another section with locked features.

In the case of the Cyberchimps Responsive theme, the advanced modules unlock when you install the Responsive Plus – Starter Templates plugin.

All the advanced features like a mega menu, white label, and advanced settings for WooCommerce are free in the Responsive Plus plugin, and users don’t need to pay or upgrade for theme settings.

Here’s what you get in the Responsive theme:

    • Global Settings: The responsive theme offers top font combinations for global typography options. Similarly, you get a global color palette like the Astra and Kadence theme. Interestingly, you can assign separate colors to individual heading tags like H1 to H6, which is unavailable in the Astra theme.
    • Header Footer Builder: Cyberchimps Responsive theme has quickly moved from the visual theme customizer to an advanced drag-and-drop header footer builder to offer an experience similar to Astra and Kadence themes.
    • Layout Options: Cyberchimp’s Responsive theme offers enough layouts to create a good-looking website. However, the number of settings in Kadence is more for playing around with different page layouts.

Here are some elements that you can define and adjust in the Customizer:

    • Header
    • Footer
    • Sidebar
    • Global typography
    • Global color palette
    • Global button settings
    • Page layouts
    • Blog layouts
    • Search results

    Speed and Performance Test

Performance is one of the most critical factors for finalizing a theme. Fast-loading themes boost website speed, make visitors happy, and help in the overall SEO of the website.

Astra, Kadence, and Cyberchimps Responsive are all optimized for performance, load fast, and provide a good user experience.

We set up a blank website hosted on Hostinger to assess every theme’s performance.

Please note that the site has only a theme activated. There is no other plugin, no starter site, and only one default post. It makes it a clean and blank WordPress blog website.

Then, we tested the website by activating each theme.

Header and Footer builders exist in almost all the popular WordPress themes.

However, that’s not the case here. Although you can customize the header and footer with both themes, what really matters is the ease and comfort of playing with the settings.

    Cyberchimps Theme

    Responsive theme header builder

Cyberchimps Responsive theme offers an advanced header and footer builder which let’s you create simple and complex headers.

You don’t need to install any extra module or addon just for creating sticky or transparent headers like in the case of the OceanWP theme.

    OceanWP Theme

    Customizing header

Also, the OceanWP theme offers you predefined set of header layouts. You can use the customizer settings to modify it but that does not offer the freedom you get in the Responsive theme.

Not to miss the footer. You can build a footer using the footer builder in Cyberchimps Responsive theme, whereas OceanWP still uses the widget-based footer system, which is less intuitive.

Clearly, Cyberchimps Responsive theme is the winner when it comes to creating headers and footers for your WordPress website.

    Starter Templates

One great thing about both themes is that they prompt you to install their Starter Templates plugin right away.

Sure, you can build your site from scratch using either theme, but let’s be honest – having a library of ready-to-import templates makes the whole process so much faster and easier.

Each theme offers a dedicated plugin for importing starter sites:

    • Cyberchimps Responsive theme uses the Responsive Starter Templates plugin (included with Responsive Plus).
    • OceanWP provides templates through the Ocean Extra plugin.
Responsive Plus - Starter Templates plugin.

Both plugins are free to install and give you access to a mix of free and premium templates. You’ll find templates explicitly designed for Elementor and Gutenberg, so you can work with the page builder you’re most comfortable with.

Instead of designing every page from scratch, you can import a complete, professionally designed website in just a few clicks. That means faster setup and less design hassle.

    ???? Template Comparison

In terms of quantity, Cyberchimps Responsive takes the lead with over 250 starter templates. You get around 130 Elementor templates, and the rest are built for Gutenberg. That’s a vast library to work with!

On the other hand, OceanWP offers only a small number of free templates. Most of their well-designed templates are locked behind the premium plan.

    OceanWP Template images

But it’s not just about the numbers.

Cyberchimps Responsive also shines in how complete and well-structured their templates are. You get polished sections, clean layouts, and content that’s almost ready to go live, saving you tons of time.

With OceanWP, things can get a little tricky after importing a template. Many users find it confusing to figure out where certain content or settings are coming from, which can slow you down.

    Integration with WooCommerce

If you’re looking to build a WooCommerce website with OceanWP or the Responsive theme, both are good options.

However, you get most of the customization settings in Cyberchimps Responsive theme customizer. You can customize the WooCommerce pages without installing additional addon plugins.

Both the themes provide good number of settings to customize WooCommerce pages like product pages, add to cart page, checkout page. You also get options for creating a distraction free checkout with both themes.

For deeper integrations, OceanWP offers a dedicated plugin called as Ocean eComm Treasure Box premium addon for WooCommerce. This plugin lets you build custom shop page, cart page, offers product variation swatches, Woo Popup and much more.

Given the fact that you need to buy an extra addon for WooCommerce enhancement, it is not fair to decide which theme offers WooCommerce theme integration.

In short, both themes offer similar WooCommerce customization settings, but OceanWP’s extension gives it a winning edge.

    Documentation and Customer Support

Like we say everytime, selecting and installing a theme feels like a breeze. The real test is when you contact the theme for support.

That’s why having good support and documentation is essential for WordPress themes.

Both OceanWP and Cyberchimps Responsive offer reliable support.

Whether you’re on their free version or premium plans, you can expect replies within hours.

It’s time to rank themes based on their support and documentation.

If we go by the numbers of 5-star reviews on WordPress.org, both themes shine. However, if you see the support forum they have many tickets open.

This is not the case with Cyberchimp’s Responsive theme. All the issues reported are resolved on a high priority.

First place goes to Cyberchimps Responsive theme.

    Cyberchimps documents

Cyberchimps offers fast and attentive support that goes beyond solving the basic requirements raised by users.

The support from the OceanWP team is dependable, too.

    Oceanwp documents

In fact, both themes offer a good set of documentation on their websites.
